Catherine Duggan, L. Ac. M. Ac.
Catherine is a Licensed acupuncturist. She has practiced in the philadelphia area for over 10 years. She attended Temple University and received a B.A. in human biology and physical anthropology.
She received a master's degree in acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel Maryland and in 2011 received a diplomate in acupuncture from the national commission for the certivication of acupuncture and oriental medicine(Nccaom).
her own profound healing experiences with acupuncture lead her to pursue these studies. the main philosophical approach to her practice is classical five element acupuncture. in using this approach she looks beyond the symptoms that a patient may present to discover and understand the root causes of their disharmony.
her treatments support patients in their own healing process to restore balance in mind, body and spirit.
she has explored other modalities of acupuncture healing through continuing education and incorporates some of these into her practice. These have included facial rejuvenation and infertility.
her love of animals has encouraged her to become certified in animal acupuncture and she has succssfully treated cats, dogs, horses and more.
The explanations about the conditions treated and the methods of treatment are not meant to be an all encompassing comprehensive document. In this website I have concentrated on conditions that I have personally had extensive experience treating with acupuncture. If there is any question about whether acupuncture is an appropriate treatment to be seriously considered for a specific condition please feel free to make an appointment for face to face communication.
I am trying to convey the fact that acupuncture can be an important part of the treatment of many diseases and pathological conditions that are treated by physicians in the United States. The message is not that acupuncture treatment should replace every pill or operation that are now part of the standard care of patients. The specific and unique physiological changes that are promoted by acupuncture treatment can complement standard treatments. The results with combined treatment are better than the results without the additional acupuncture treatment. In some instances treatment with acupuncture can be successful when other methods have failed.
consideration of Acupuncture treatment is usually an improvement compared to what is usually being done as standard treatment now. Acupuncture should be an important part of the medical care that is offered to patients. healing professionals should always be striving to provide care that is better for the patient than what was done in the past.
